OFFENSE

The Jets started out hot, jumping to a 14-0 lead. Then, they cooled off. QB

Josh McCown (31-of-47, 354 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs, 84.9 rating) made a critical error with his second-quarter interception that gave the Patriots another possession. TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (8 catches, 46 yards, 1 TD) and RB Matt Forte (8 catches, 59 yards) were McCown’s favorite targets. The Jets Brolled up 408 total yards, but just 74 rushing.

DEFENSE

Too much Tom Brady (20-of-38, 257 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 80.7 rating) and Rob Gronkowski (6 catches, 83 yards, 2 TDs) to overcome. The defense had its moments, but failed in some big spots. Rookie Jamal Adams had a rough day, giving up the two Gronkowski scores.

Buster Skrine had a crucial dropped interception. The defensive C line got very little pressure on Brady.

SPECIAL TEAMS

It was a pretty nondescript day for the special teams. Chandler

Catanzaro made one field goal. Punter Lachlan

Edwards averaged 46.8 yards per punt, putting one inside the 20. The coverage teams were fine, but the special B teams did not have much effect on the game.

COACHING

I don’t put this one on

Todd Bowles. He had his team ready to play and it played hard. Offensive coordinator John Morton started off strong, but then he could not find any answers. The fourth-and-1 pass play was not well conceived. Bowles and

Kacy Rodgers could Bnot create pressure on Brady, but few can.
