Tisch backs coach

Take a deep breath, Ben McAdoo. Your team is on board, and co-owner Steve Tisch has your back.

Sp e a k i ng at th e NFL owners meeting in Battery Park City on Tuesday, Tisch praised the Giants coach’s handling of hi s team this past week, when they got their first win of the season, 23-10, over the Broncos.

Big Blue was off to an 0-5 start, hindered by a surplus of injuries, and engulfed by negative reports regarding the suspension of veteran cornerback Domini qu e Rodgers-Cromartie.

But Mc Ad oo ’ s team delivered in Denver — an outcome that practically no one expected.

As was previously discussed with Tisch and fellow co-owner John Mara, McAdoo opted to relinquish play-calling duties for the game.

“I think it was a very good adjustment the coach made,” Tisch told reporters.

“The job description of a head coach was tested last week and on Sunday I think head coach McAdoo did a great job. He showed up, the players showed up, they had a strong desire to win. It was a very exciting game to watch. After the game, it was a very happy locker room.”

Tisch made clear hi s allegiance to McAdoo.

“I think coach McAdoo knows that ownership is very supportive going forward,” he said.

“Coach McAdoo and I’m sure the other 31 coaches in the league know pretty much for the most part that they have a vote of conf idence from their owners. It doesn’t need to be solicited and ownership doesn’t need to communicate that. It’s an unspoken agreement and there’s an unspoken level of support unless something unpredictable dramatic happens. This is football.”

The Giants host Seattle on Sunday. Perhaps a conf ident coach, boosted by ownership, can surprise people once again.
