Trump: I don't get bitter, I get Twitter

- Mark Moore

President Trump said in a new interview that Twitter allows him to fire back at his detractors or reports in the “fake media” and acknowledged that without the social-media platform he wouldn’t be in the White House.

“So when somebody says something about me, I am able to go bing, bing, bing and I take care of it,” he said in a taped interview with Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo that aired Sunday. “The other way, I would never be able to get the word out.”

He explained that people have tried to discourage him from using Twitter, but he marvels at the immediate impact his tweets have on getting his message out.

“See, I don’t call it tweets. Tweeting is like a typewriter — when I put it out, you put it immediately on your show,” Trump said. “I mean, the other day, I put something out, two seconds later, I am watching your show, it’s up.”

He added he has a “tremendous platform” with a total of about 145 million followers on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook.

“I am like a person that does well with that kind of thing,” Trump said in the interview. “And I doubt I would be here if it weren’t for social media, to be honest with you.”

The president turned to Twitter once again Sunday, citing a poll from last week about the media.

“It is finally sinking through. 46% OF PEOPLE BELIEVE MAJOR NATIONAL NEWS ORGS FABRICATE STORIES ABOUT ME. FAKE NEWS, even worse! Lost cred,” Trump posted Sunday on Twitter.
