Michigan ends Rutgers’ Big Ten streak

Redshirt freshman quarterbac­k Brandon Peters came off the bench and helped Michigan score touchdowns on his first three drives, allowing the Wolverines to pull away from Rutgers, 35-14, Saturday, ending the Scarlet Knights’ Big Ten win streak at two.

Jim Harbaugh finally benched quarterbac­k John O’Korn after another shaky performanc­e. Peters took full advantage, completing 10 of 14 passes for 124 yards with a TD. O’Korn, starting a fourth straight game in place of injured starter Wilton Speight, was 3-of-6 for 13 yards with an intercepti­on and recovered two of his own fumbles off snaps.

Michigan (6-2, 3-2 Big Ten) broke a fourth-place tie in the East division with the Scarlet Knights (3-5, 2-3), who kept it close while O’Korn was in the game.

Janarion Grant ran for a 65-yard score early in the second quarter, pulling the Scarlet Knights into a 7all tie.

Fordham 45, Lehigh 35

In The Bronx, Kevin Anderson threw for three touchdowns and D’Angelo Palladino ran for three second-half scores as Fordham (3-6, 2-2 Patriot League) beat Lehigh (2-6, 2-1).

Anderson had 244 yards passing for the Rams and Palladino ran for a school-record 297 yards, with scoring runs of 70 and 48 yards as well as a 1-yard TD.

Bryant 31, Wagner 16

In Staten Island, Jean Constant returned a kickoff 100 yards to tie a school record and added a pair of receiving touchdowns to lead Bryant (3-5, 1-2 NEC) over Wagner (2-6, 0-4) to snap a three-game losing streak.

Junior transfer Ryan Fulse ran for a career-high 228 yards on 25 carries, including a 53-yard run and a 38-yard score for the Seahawks. It was the most rushing yards for Wagner player since Nov. 12, 2011, when Dominique Williams rushed for 216 yards at Robert Morris.

Stony Brook 27, Richmond 24

In Richmond, Va., Joe Carbone threw two touchdown passes to Ray Bolden, Donald Liotine ran for a score, and Stony Brook (4-4, 2-3 CAA) held off Richmond (6-2, 5-1). The Seawolves’ defense forced turnovers and limited the Spiders to 47 rushing yards.

Monmouth 23, Charleston So. 20

In Charleston, S.C., 295-pound defensive tackle Gerron Pendarvis returned an intercepti­on 21 yards for a touchdown early in the second half and Monmouth (7-1, 2-0 Big South) held on to beat Charleston Southern (4-4, 1-1) for its fifthstrai­ght victory.
