What the Manafort Charges Mean for Team Trump
Who cares what President Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort did 10 years ago? It has nothing to do with the president (“First raps in Russian probe,” Oct. 30).
And the only thing campaign staffer George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to was lying to the FBI.
I seem to remember Hillary Clinton’s own husband being impeached for perjury. Tom Scott Spotswood, NJ
The Trump administration has hit a wall, one bigger than the thousand-mile stretch he promised his base: Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.
Deflecting and denying won’t impede the investigation, and even the president’s usual bank of lawyers has not affected the stone-faced Mueller’s unraveling of possible Russian influence on the presidential election.
Nor will a four-star general in the Oval Office halt Mueller’s posse if the trail leads to the same place as former President Harry S. Truman’s famous “buck.” Mary Alice Altorfer New Braunfels, Texas
I find it very interesting that Trump is the focal point in the midst of the indictments of Manafort and Papadopoulos.
So far, it seems their alleged crimes had no impact whatsoever on the outcome of the election.
However, if Mueller continues to follow the paper trail, I wouldn’t be surprised if Hillary Clinton will have some explaining to do, as well.
After all, that uranium deal with Russia certainly needs further investigation. Ron Zajicek Cortlandt Manor
It’s ludicrous that the White House is claiming that Manafort played only a limited role in the Trump campaign and was only involved for a short period of time.
The administration is claiming his indictment had nothing to do with Trump, and Hillary Clinton should have been indicted instead.
