Spacey’s Bad Excuses

-

When it became clear that there was a crisis of sexual abuse of adolescent boys in the Catholic Church and a corresponding effort to cover it up, the church was subjected to warranted media criticism and vitriol that has no modern equivalent (“Kevin’s house of cards comes falling amid ‘sex’ uproar,” Oct. 31).

Now that Hollywood has been unmasked as a cesspool of sexual exploitation, will there be a similar barrage of vitriol against the entertainment industry? Or should I not hold my breath?

Will there be an investigation by the Boston Globe and a subsequent movie like “Spotlight,” or will this all be left to wither with time?

I already know the answer. However, there is always hope that what is good for the goose will also be good for the gander. Michael Zboray Montvale, NJ

Accused of pedophilia, actor Kevin Spacey responded by using techniques straight out of the liberal playbook.

First, Spacey announced he was gay, rendering any criticism of him as homophobic.

Second, he said he doesn’t remember the incident in question because he was drunk at the time, another sad victim of alcoholism.

Spacey is not a monster, just a gay man struggling with alcoholism and a bad memory. Got it? Pete McArdle Yorktown Heights Sorry, Spacey: It’s 2017, no one cares if you’re gay. But we do care deeply about you being an alleged pedophile. Matthew Nugent Staten Island
