Rob gets his Astorino kicked in W’chester

- Kirstan Conley and Carl Campanile

Democrat George Latimer knocked off two-term Republican Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino in a race where the Dems linked the incumbent to President Trump.

State Sen. Latimer declared victory shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday and Astorino conceded shortly afterward, saying, “It looks like we’ve come up short.”

One campaign mailing by the state Democratic Party featured Astorino and Trump as two peas in a pod. “Rob Astorino is a fully financed subsidiary of Donald Trump,” Gov. Cuomo said after voting in Mount Kisco.

Astorino was the GOP nominee for governor in 2014, and his defeat may preclude another shot at Cuomo is 2018.

Latimer came under fire for not paying property taxes on a family home, having a car-registration sus- pension on his record and missing a state budget vote in April while vacationing in the United Kingdom with a woman other than his wife.

Astorino was rattled after convicted pay-to-play felon Jona Rechnitz, a donor to him and Mayor de Blasio, testified at a corruption trial that he helped purchase a Rolex watch for Astorino, who denied the claim.

With 81 percent of the vote counted, Latimer was clobbering Astorino, 57 to 43 percent.

In Nassau County, Democrat Laura Curran defeated Republican Jack Martins, 51 percent to 48 percent, with all of the votes tallied.

Both had made ethics a centerpiece of their campaigns after departing GOP County Exec Edward Mangano came under federal probe amid bribery and fraud charges.
