Daffy Donald Duck disrupt ploy was Hill's
Hillary Clinton personally approved a plan to have protesters in Donald Duck costumes disrupt Donald Trump’s campaign rallies, a stunt that led to a clash with then-DNC Chair Donna Brazile.
Brazile writes in her new book that she became infuriated by “the idiocy” of the plan when she was leading the Democratic National Committee in 2016, according to Yahoo News.
When told that Clinton came up with the idea, to spotlight Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns, Brazile said she told one of her aides, “Kill the f--king duck, goddamit.”
Brazile said she was worried that not only would the duck deed fuel allegations that Clinton was hiring protesters to taunt her GOP opponent, but that Disney would sue for copyright infringement.
She said she called Marc Elias, a top Clinton campaign lawyer, and told him she had heard from Disney about the duck and “he had to kill it.”
“The duck is the intellectual property of Disney,” Brazile told him. “They could sue us, OK? Do you want that story out there? Hillary’s about to go to California to raise money, and she’s going to see Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney, who is holding this fundraiser, and this is coming from him. What do you want to do? Have him cancel the fund- raiser? I know you all want that money. So get rid of the f--king duck!”
Elias told Brazile that Clinton had decided to deploy the ducks at a friend’s suggestion.
“What a brilliant decision! Can someone get this message to her? Is she the only one who can kill the damn duck?” Brazile asked.
The plan was tabled that afternoon.
Still, demonstrators dressed as Donald Duck did turn up throughout the 2016 campaign at a number of Trump rallies and even at Trump Tower.
Some carried signs saying the Republican presidential candidate was “ducking” releasing his returns.
