B’klyn vandal hits mosques
A man vandalized two mosques in Brooklyn with a hammer over the weekend, police said.
Surveillance video from outside the Beit El-Maqdis Islamic Center on Sixth Avenue near 62nd Street in Sunset Park shows the man smashing windows there at 5:20 p.m. Saturday.
He was then caught on video minutes later outside the United American Muslim Association on Eighth Avenue near 60th Street. He used a hammer to destroy the building’s doorbell, doorknob and mailbox.
The suspect (inset) is described as Asian and was last seen wearing a black coat with a hood.
The incidents are being investigated by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force.
