Vics rip Brit fire aid
Hundreds of people displaced by the June 14 London high-rise inferno that killed about 80 people are still living in hotels or friends’ houses because of a failure by local authorities to relocate them, the lawmaker representing the area in Parliament said Monday.
“The council and the government are failing in their duty of care to Grenfell [Tower] . . . evacuees,” said the Labour Party’s Emma Dent Coad.
She said most displaced children are still in emergency housing five months later although it was unlawful to keep them there for longer than six weeks.
The Kensington and Chelsea Council denied that the slow pace of rehousing people was due to any failure on its part.
