Chipotle’s shares took a hit Monday after “Supergirl” star Jeremy Jordan said he got violently ill from eating at one of the chain’s burrito joints late last week.

But doubt was cast on the actor’s story by Chipotle and others after the company’s shares plunged as much as 6 percent in early trading, and Chipotle’s stock recovered to close just $1.95 lower, at $227.50.

On Thursday night, the Broadway performer posted an account of his ordeal in a now-expired Instagram story, saying he was hospitalized after eating at a Houston Chipotle. Jordan blamed his Chipotle food. “I, as you can see, am in the hospital and I have fluids in my arm because the food did not agree with me and I almost died,” Jordan wrote last week.

The actor through his manager, Ted Schacter, declined to comment further on the situation on Monday.

“We were sorry to hear Jeremy was sick and were able to get in touch with him directly regarding where and when he ate,” Chipotle said in its Monday statement.

“There have been no other reported claims of illness at the restaurant where he dined. We take all claims seriously, but we can’t confirm any link to Chipotle given the details he shared with us.”

Indeed, a spokesman for the Houston Health Department on Monday said no recent complaints about Chipotle’s approximately 30 eateries in the city have been received.

Chipotle shares are off 27 percent this year, slammed by a report of a norovirus outbreak last July at a Virginia Chipotle eatery. A Dallas Chipotle closed after a video went viral showing mice scurrying in the restaurant and falling from the ceiling.
