Axing Tax Loopholes: The GOP’s Mixed-Bag Plan
THE ISSUE: The House’s passage of the GOP taxreform bill endorsed by President Trump.
House Speaker Paul Ryan keeps complaining about these evil loopholes in our tax laws (“House OKs tax bill,” Nov. 17).
The difference between a loophole and a deduction is that I use a deduction while the other guy uses a loophole.

In order to have tax cuts that really work for us, we also need spending cuts.

President Trump’s phony tax-reform bill being pushed through Congress awards Wall Street with undeserved tax breaks, yet it destroys Main Street, the middle class and the poor with tax increases. Trickle-down economics is pure evil.

The middle class and poor are being milked by the system. With one hand they are given tax breaks, and then with the other, tax breaks are taken away.
The wealthy make more money, and they should have the burden of paying the correct taxes (which they avoid with all the deductions). The middle class needs a break.
Instead of hiding their wealth so it cannot be taxed, the wealthy should pay more taxes. The current tax system is stacked against the middle class. Frederick Seid Brooklyn
As a CPA for 45 years, I am offended by the president saying the tax plan is not built for the rich, especially himself. Between the AMT repeal and the estate-tax repeal, he and his family would likely save a fortune. Why does he continue to lie and say the plans would hurt him and his family?
Additionally, this tax plan will hurt the great American dream of being a homeowner, by the capping of real-estatetax and mortgage-interest deductions. Jeff Gold White Plains
