Baby on board

It’s all about family this year for proud new dad and singer-songwriter

- ANDY GRAMMER Diane Herbst

A NDY Grammer can’t think of anything he is more thankful for right now than his baby daughter, Louisiana K. “She is my favorite thing in the world,” says the singer-songwriter, who will be performing “Smoke Clears” from his upcoming album “The Good Parts” in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Of fatherhood, the smitten 33-year-old says, “there’s nothing I like more than that.” Louisiana, who was born on July 28, will be flying from Los Angeles to New York with Grammer and his wife to watch the Parade. “It’s a time I make an extra effort to be around my family,” says Grammer. To prepare Louie (as Grammer likes to call her) for the cold, Grammer has been shopping for the baby’s first winter jacket. “I almost died,” he says. “They are so cute.” Grammer, who had the infectious “Honey, I’m Good” hit in 2014, last performed at the Parade in 2015. It was a bittersweet appearance — he’d just honored his late mother with a “Dancing With the Stars” performance (he finished in seventh place), and fans along the Parade route shouted out their support. “All these New York mothers in thick accents were shouting things like, ‘Your mother loves you, she is really proud of you,’ and I was almost crying the whole Parade because of these sweet New York moms,” he says. “That is a really good Thanksgiving memory. I was not expecting that at all.” Following this year’s Parade, Grammer will take his family to his hometown of Chester in Orange County, NY, to celebrate with childhood friends. “I know it sounds cheesy,” Grammer says, “[but] I am so grateful I can bring my little daughter to my hometown.” —
