An NYPD detective was arrested Tuesday on Long Island for allegedly torching clothes belonging to her fellow-cop husband — whom she suspected of cheating on her, law-enforcement sources said.

Detective Marissa Sorocco, who works in NYPD Deputy Commissioner Dermot Shea’s office at Police Headquarters in Manhattan, was busted by Nassau County police and charged with arson in the fifth degree and criminal mischief, a law-enforcement source said.

Police believe that Sorocco’s motive for setting the fire was her belief that her husband, Paul, a Nassau County officer, had been having an affair.

Marissa Sorocco allegedly set his clothes on fire at their home in Plainview, according to two law-enforcement sources.

Investigators don’t know if the hubby was, in fact, having an extramarital fling, the sources said.

“They [detectives] believe she set the fire as revenge for her husband’s suspected infidelity,” one source said.

The detective was arrested Tuesday morning and she has been suspended by the NYPD, sources said.

She was being held overnight and expected to be arraigned on Wednesday morning in Nassau County court.

Paul Sorocco is a former NYPD cop who once worked in the 102nd Precinct in Queens. Marissa Sorocco, a third-grade detective, made nearly $140,000 this year with overtime.

Reached at home, Paul Sorocco declined to comment and slammed a door on a reporter.

“They’re great neighbors,” said an elderly man living next door. “We feel so sad about this.”

The neighbor added, “Paul’s been very decent. During [Hurricane] Sandy, he helped an ailing neighbor.

“He was giving her electricity when the power was out.”
