OFFENSE

Well, didn’t that look familiar?

Geno Smith (21-of-34, 212 yards, 1 TD) was typical Geno Smith. Some good, some bad, some turnovers (two lost fumbles). It was strange to see a Giants quarterback on the move. Once again, let us restate the obvious: The offensive line is dreadful. Running game (65 yards) was brutal. RT

Chad Wheeler was beaten like a drum by DE Khalil Mack on a sack/fumble on Smith. Rookie Evan

Engram (7-99, 1 TD) broke out of his slump.

DEFENSE

Do not want to start out a game watching Marshawn Lynch (17-101) rip off a 51-yard TD. Landon Collins had the ball thrown right into his hands and dropped what should have been a gift interception that would have prevented three points. CB Brandon Dixon also dropped an easy INT. Not much heat on Derek Carr (22-of-36, 287 yards, 1 TD). Once again, this unit battled then gave up points at the end.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Rookie Shane Smith stormed in to engulf punter Marquette King, who could not even kick the ball as he was dropped at the Oakland 9-yard line. Brad

Wing had a 69-yard punt inflated by a bounce and roll, with Kalif Raymond able to down the ball on the 1-yard line. Raymond did not do anything in the return game. Rookie Aldrick Rosas hit a 52-yard field goal off the grass.

COACHING

Where do we begin? Look up “beleaguered’’ in the dictionary and there’s a picture of Ben McAdoo. The move to Geno Smith actually did almost nothing — the Giants lost in their usual fashion. This was not one of those “the Giants quit” narratives. They just aren’t any good. Steve

Spagnuolo is working in players off the street, and at times, it shows.
