Rx for marital ‘struggles’

A therapist says she gave disgraced “Today” host Matt Lauer the bag of sex toys that he kept in his office — because he told her he was having marriage “struggles’’ and was too embarrassed to buy them himself.

The sex toys came up in 2016 on an episode of the since-canceled “Meredith Vieira Show,’’ and the cringe-worthy segment was reported on again last week after Lauer was fired over sexual-misconduct allegations.

Lauer surfaced in the Hamptons Monday after a weekend of lying low as he drove his son to school (above) — while illegally chatting on his cellphone.

Sex therapist Dr. Laura Berman told “Inside Edition’’ this week about her conversation with Lauer and the sex toys in 2007, as she was preparing for an appearance with him on “Today.’’

“We were in the makeup room, and he sort of asked the makeup artist to leave,” she said. “He asked me about sexual aids and devices. He confided in me about some of the struggles he was having in his married relationship.”

Lauer told Berman he didn’t want to be spotted shopping for X-rated toys in public, she said. “I brought him a shopping bag filled with toys from my line,” she said.

On Vieira’s show years later, Lauer was a guest and was ribbed by his “Today’’ co-host for the “huge bag of sex toys” she once found in his office.
