July3,1989 Victoria Leacock — alone in Paris with no money and no passport — was recently rescued by Roman Polanski. Leacock had just finished filming a documentary on the European tour of the Lounge Lizards. “I had my passport and wallet pickpocketed on the metro [subway],” Leacock said. She returned to the apartment of her filmmaker father, Richard Leacock, who was in the south of France, and started going through his phone book. “The only person in town I could reach was Roman Polanski.” The Polish film director — who has a penchant for underage girls — kindly took the 25-year-old out to dinner. “He was totally overwhelming,” she said, “but I was far too old for him.”
