Jailed fiends are ISIS on ice
The Bronx terrorist wannabe who watched ISIS decapitation videos when he worked out — to keep himself “motivated” — was back to his terrorism recruiting alongside the Chelsea bomber while they were in jail, prosecutors allege.
Sajmir Alimehmeti, 24, “collaborated” with nowconvicted Ahmad Rahimi to smuggle into the Metropolitan Correctional Center a thumb drive that became “a veritable cache of terrorist propaganda materials,” new court papers state.
Prosecutors want a Manhattan jury to see and hear evidence at trial about the terrorism pair’s partnership while locked up.
“Evidence of Alimehmeti’s involvement with Rahimi in sharing and possessing terrorist propaganda materials within the MCC is indicative of Alimehmeti’s continued support for terrorist ideology, highly probative of his motive, intent . . . in providing material support to a [foreign terrorist organization],” prosecutors charge.
Rahimi was convicted of setting off bombs in Chelsea and New Jersey in 2016.
Prosecutors go on to say Alimehmeti “was interested not only in joining ISIS himself, but also in radicalizing others so that they would support the cause.”
Alimehmeti is charged with passport fraud and providing material support to ISIS. His trial is set to begin in February.
