Jones, who tried to scuttle his contract extension, saying they have a “great” relationship and the commissioner doesn’t take anything personally.

Tommy Nobis, the first player drafted by the expansion Falcons and a hard-hitting middle linebacker who was never fully recognized for his talents on a struggling franchise that failed to make the playoffs during his long career, died Wednesday at 74. The Redskins denied they were changing their name in a statement responding to “fraudulent websites” that said the moniker some find offensive would go. The Washington Post reported an alliance of Native American activists launched online web pages disguised as legitimate news outlets falsely claiming the team had changed its name to the Redhawks.

Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor will get a majority of work in practice to test his bruised left knee with an eye to starting Sunday against the Dolphins.
