Betances: No way around new Bombers’ lineup

- By DAN MARTIN dan.martin@nypost.com

Dellin Betances has faced his fair share of fearsome lineups, especially in the AL East.

But he doesn’t think he’s ever seen a heart of the order like the Yankees figure to have now that Giancarlo Stanton has arrived.

“It’s like when Toronto had [Edwin] Encarnacion, Jose Bautista and Josh Donaldson,” Betances said Wednesday. “And with us, you still have Greg Bird and Didi [Gregorius].”

It figures to leave pitchers with an unenviable dilemma.

“You can’t pitch around anyone because there’s always another one coming,” Betances said. “What do you do? I don’t know the recipe and I don’t think anyone else does, either.”

Betances, who was at an Indochino clothing showroom on Wall Street, said he was going to meet with new manager Aaron Boone soon in New York. The right-hander said the two spoke frequently when Boone worked Yankees games while broadcasting for ESPN.

Boone also plans on meeting with Gary Sanchez in New York this weekend.

Both Betances and Sanchez had issues at times this season, with Betances losing his command on the mound down the stretch and Sanchez struggling with his defense.

The addition of Stanton, who was shipped out of Miami in another fire sale, should make all of their jobs easier.

“We got so close last year,” Betances said. “Now we’re getting one of the best hitters in the big leagues. It gives us a great opportunity to finish the whole thing off.”

Betances has pitched against Stanton since the minors.

“We played each other in 2008 in Class A,” Betances said. “He was already big and strong even then. I saw him hit one of the farthest home runs I’ve ever seen at in the first game of a series we had in Greensboro [N.C.]. It went over houses. After that, I don’t think anyone even pitched to him.”

He expects more such displays this season.

“I think there’s gonna be a lot more people coming to watch batting practice,” Betances said.
