LA’s Lynn latest familiar foe

-

THE JETS will see another case of what-could-have-been in the head coaching department Sunday when Anthony Lynn and the Chargers come to MetLife Stadium.

Lynn interviewed for the Jets’ coaching job in 2015 when the team hired Bowles.

He is the fourth coach the Jets have faced this year that got consider- ation at the time. Dan Quinn of the Falcons and Doug Marrone of the Jaguars both interviewed while Sean McDermott, now with the Bills, had his interview canceled when the Jets picked Bowles.

Lynn has done a fairly good job this season despite diff icult circumstances.

The Chargers moved from San Diego to Los Angeles in the offseason and are playing in a soccer stadium that is usually f illed with the opponent’s fans.

The Chargers started 0-4 before winning seven of their next nine games before losing last week in Kansas City.

They are a game behind the Bills, Ravens and Titans in the fight for the final playoff spot in the AFC, so they need some help to get there.

No one who saw Lynn work with the Jets as the team’s running backs coach from 2009-14 would be surprised by his success.

He was one of the most respected coaches on Rex Ryan’s staff, and one of the best.

The Jets will get a reminder of that Sunday when he is on the opposing sideline.
