Attacking US Sovereignty: The UN’s Vile Embassy Vote
THE ISSUE: The United Nations’ vote to reprimand the United States for recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
You have got to love Ambassador Nikki Haley’s warning to our United Nations “allies” that their insulting vote to abandon the United States and Israel won’t be quickly forgotten (“London Bridge-Burning,” Benny Avni, PostOpinion, Dec. 19).
But let’s reinforce those words with action by ending the billions in subsidies US taxpayers give to these ingrates at the Untied Nations. I bet that gets their attention. Carole Campolo East Hampton
Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. It has been so intermittently for the past 3,500 years.
The Palestinians reject this because they demand a Palestinian state from the river to the sea.
That would include Bethlehem, Tel Aviv, Askelon and every inch of what is now the state of Israel.
Does Israel have the right to exist with any city as its capital within any borders?
Our European allies have just answered that question with a resounding “no.”

Where do people get the notion that Israel has no right to name Jerusalem its capital?
The real issue is that the United States stands with Israel, politically and militarily.

Is there any reason why the United States is still a member of the United Nations? Even Great Britain, France and Germany rub our noses in the mud there — three countries we helped preserve.
