... and gives glimpse into potential Eli plans

- By PAUL SCHWARTZ

What the Giants do with Eli Manning will largely be determined by what the next general manager and head coach think about the soon-to-be 37-year-old quarterback, what they think of rookie Davis Webb and what they think of the incoming draft class at the position.

There are no public com- ments from Dave Gettleman and Marc Ross, two of the three candidates to interview for the GM job. The third candidate to be interviewed, Louis Riddick, is already on record sharing his thoughts on Manning, the Giants and what comes next. As an ESPN analyst, Riddick gets paid to opine on matters such as this, and he did just that 10 days ago.

“There’s a number of different things you can wind up doing with him,” Riddick said during an appearance on “NFL Live’’ on ESPN. “I mean, if you’re not going to find out what they have with Davis Webb, then it probably makes sense to go ahead and keep him.”

Riddick was speaking as a TV analyst and not the next general manager of the Gi- ants, but it is probably safe to assume what he said on the telecast is along the lines of what he told co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch and consultant Ernie Accorsi during Thursday’s interview.

“If you’re going to move [Manning], you would have to trade him, more so than cut him,” Riddick said. “Why would you just cut him and not get anything back when you know there’s going to be a market for him?”

The Giants are on pace to own the No. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, meaning top quarterback prospects Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold are in the mix. The Giants taking a quarterback is a scenario Riddick said cannot be discounted.

“Drafting a young player has to be on the ticket anyway, just by virtue of the fact that you know [Manning] is closer to the end than the beginning,” Riddick said. “There’s a lot of different moving parts here. But I think everybody will win in the end. I think Eli will get what he wants, and I think the Giants will just move on into the future.”
