Letting Terror Run Amok: Obama’s Iran-Deal Legacy
It is not surprising that President Barack Obama did everything he could to appease Iran, even to the extent of not condemning its most important satellite organization, Hezbollah (“O’s Blind Eye To Terror,” Dec. 19).
Preventing the prosecution of that terrorist organization was a step in an effort to elevate Iran as the dominant power in the Middle East, which included a deeply flawed nuclear agreement.
In doing so, he alienated our allies in the region, including Saudi Arabia and certainly Israel. Nelson Marans Manhattan
Obama’s despicable behavior betrayed the American people while playing into the hands of Hezbollah, a surrogate of Iran, all to ensure that the dangerous nuclear deal would go through.
Hezbollah was running a $1 billion-a-year drug ring which laundered money and smuggled cocaine into the US.
Iranian and Lebanese operatives laundered $200 million a month by buying used cars from American dealers and shipping them to Africa.
The operatives were identified by the Drug Enforcement Administration, but its efforts to prosecute were stymied by Obama.
These were the depths to which Obama was willing to sink in order to keep the ayatollahs happy. Helen Freedman Manhattan Time and time again, Obama acted irresponsi- bly regarding US interests.
His decision to turn the other way regarding the Project Cassandra scandal should be investigated, and he should be held fully accountable.
Turning a blind eye to international drug smuggling and terrorism, as well as weakening US security to appease Moscow and Iran, is scandalous.
This, on top of allowing ISIS to develop a caliphate in Iraq and Syria, releasing terrorist suspects at Gitmo and calling the massacre of 13 soldiers at Fort Hood “workplace violence” were reckless, to say the least. Manny Martin Manhattan
