Partying with the Trumps
THE first family and the Cabinet celebrated the holidays last week with cocktails and a buffet for 300 guests at the lavishly decorated White House.
No media were invited, but some of the guests were so thrilled by the experience, they couldn’t maintain their silence. The crowd included Gov.
Chris Christie, White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and his wife, Hilary Geary Ross. Ivanka Trump, in red Dolce & Gabbana to contrast with First Lady Melania in black, told one acquaintance that she and husband Jared Kushner and their children are heading to Mar-a-Lago for Christmas, and then going skiing.
“She said everyone in Washington, DC, has been very nice
and they love living there,” my source divulged.
Kellyanne Conway said she is happy being counselor to the president: “I said right from the beginning, ‘I don’t want to be press secretary. I’m a policy person.’ That’s what I like to do, and that’s what I’m doing.”
The party, featuring the US Marine Band playing carols, was one of several given at the White House, which was decorated with 53 trees, a huge crèche with flying angels and a gingerbread White House.
One party was for children. Another was for the media.
