Fractured arm ends Collins’ year

- By STEVE SERBY

GLENDALE — Landon Collins has started 47 consecutive games as a Giant since he walked into the NFL. He won’t get to 48.

Collins said he cried when Xrays at halftime revealed he had fractured his forearm. Surgery? “We’ll see when we get back,” Collins said after the Giants lost 23-0 to the Cardinals. “We’ll make a decision on what we should do.”

Collins went down with a little more than a minute left in the first half after tackling D.J. Foster at the end of a 5-yard reception from Drew Stanton.

“I don’t know if my arm got caught in a different way ’cause I didn’t use my arm to hit him — I hit him with my shoulder pad,” Collins said. “I remember my arm caught on a lineman as I was going through.”

Remember, this is a gladiator who played through a high ankle sprain for much of the season and was voted to his second Pro Bowl. “It felt weird,” Collins said. He could squeeze his fingers, and a weird-feeling forearm wasn’t about to stop Landon Collins. So naturally he returned when Drew Stanton kneeled on the last play of the first half.

“I just thought it was probably sore and try to wake it back up,” Collins said. “It wasn’t waking up.”

Bet on him being a defensive captain in 2018.

“Just trying to play through injuries and trying to be on the field with my guys as much as possible, and try to make a difference some kinda way,” Collins said. “I tried my best for ’em. I can hold my head up high for that.”

He won’t get to finish what he started.

“God had some other plans for me,” Collins said.
