From familyfriendly movies to marathons of your favorite shows, there’s a lot on the tube. Here’s a smattering of programming awaiting you as the day unfolds.
“A Christmas Prince” (Netflix)
An American journalist wins the heart of a royal in this original Netflix movie — provoking amused reactions on social media due to its similarities to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s romance and engagement.
“The Polar Express” (Freeform, 12:35 p.m.)
The animated, familyfriendly 2004 adaptation of the classic 1985 children’s novel stars Tom Hanks and centers on a young boy’s train journey to the North Pole.
“The Simpsons” (FX, 6 p.m.)
A marathon of Marge, Homer, Bart, Lisa, Maggie et al. Even if you haven’t seen the show in years, no context is needed. Dive right in.
“Elf” (Freeform, 6:45 p.m.)
The 2003 Will Ferrell fish-outof-water classic follows a human who grew up among elves and embarks on a journey from the North Pole to New York to search for his father.
“Home Alone” (Starz Encore, 7 p.m.)
The 1990 family-friendly movie about Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) defending his home from robbers (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern).
“The Holiday” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.)
The 2006 rom-com stars Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz as two women who swap homes, leading to surprising results for their love lives. Jude Law and Jack Black co-star.
“Doctor Who: Twice Upon a Time” (BBC America, 9 p.m.)
The “Doctor Who” holiday special marks the finale of the Peter Capaldi era of the show.
“Call The Midwife” holiday special (PBS, 9 p.m.)
In this 90-minute special, the mid- wives struggle to help patients during the most frigid winter in 300 years.
“Holiday Baking Championship: Runners up redemption” (Food Network, 9 p.m.)
In the Christmas special, runner-up teams from previous seasons of “Holiday Baking Championship” compete for a second chance.
“Young Sheldon” (CBS, 9 p.m.)
If you missed the “The Big
Bang Theory” spinoff when it premiered in the fall, CBS is reairing the pilot — and it’s never to late to hop on board one of the fall’s new hit shows. Iain Armitage stars as Sheldon Cooper.
“Black-ish” (ABC, 10 p.m.)
