With Friends Like These: The UN’s Backstabbing Vote

-

The United Nations remains consistent in its unwavering, unabashed and unequivocal hostility toward Israel (“‘Stop!’ Go the Weasels,” Dec. 22).

The recent vote against the United States for recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel shows the true colors of our friends in this feckless organization.

I daresay that Jerusalem became an issue only because Israel is a Jewish state, and that is simply intolerable to the majority of UN members. S.P. Hersh Lawrence

Ambassador Nikki Haley properly called out the vile UN vote criticizing President Trump’s decision to move our embassy to Jerusalem. It’s just the latest example of the United Nations’ antiAmerican and anti-Israel venom.

The United States should get out of the United Nations, and we should toss the UN headquarters out of the United States. Joseph Santora Manhattan

The Post cover comparing the United Nations Security Council to weasels should win an award.

I only hope weasels aren’t upset that they’re associated with the pathetic dirtbags that inhabit the United Nations. Peter Bochner Wayland, Mass.

Trump’s legacy could be that he dealt with the United Nations. Telling the United Nations to remove its headquarters from New York City would be a good start.

The United Nations needs America. We certainly don’t need the United Nations. The UN building is waste of prime New York City real estate. Replace it with a Walmart. Joseph Briglia Tampa, Fla.

So far, Trump has been very true to his word.

I hope he follows through with withdrawing funding to the 128 countries that voted to reprimand his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

We could use that money to benefit our poor, hungry and homeless. D. Mann Miller Place

The United Nations is an impotent organization that hasn’t accomplished anything of consequence in years.

The issue that concerns me more is why we can’t put Nikki Haley’s considerable talents to better use. Nick Palazzo Stamford, Conn.

Although I enjoyed The Post’s front page, as well as the photo of weasels dressed up in suits, I support the 128 weasels who stood up to two bullies: Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

I hope an Israeli leader will be willing to acknowledge the Palestinians as equals and allow them to live in their own separate state, with their capital in Jerusalem. It’s the only way to bring peace in the Middle East. JoAnn Lee Frank Clearwater, Fla.

As we expected, the ingrates at Turtle Bay have agreed on yet another reason to hate Israel.

The recent vote condemning Trump’s acknowledgment of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is only the most recent example of the anti-Semitism oozing out of the United Nations.

Maybe now the president can save the American people some foreign “aid” money. Rob Spieler Montrose It was so nice to see our president and Ambassador Haley stand up for America at the United Nations.

It is also refreshing to hear that the United States will be noting the countries that did not stand by us.

The potentates who always have their hands out picking our pockets for money have been given notice: There will be no more freebies at the expense of the American taxpayers. Robert Lobenstein Brooklyn

It’s very troubling to see the president threaten to force the United Nations to “pay” for voting against the wishes of the Untied States.

Trump boasts of his ability to negotiate. Unfortunately, his actions are anything but negotiations; they are the threats of a tyrant. S. Leelike Manhattan
