RB Murray out for Titans against KC

- Associated Press

Tennessee running back DeMarco Murray will miss his second straight game, with the Titans ruling him out against the Chiefs in their AFC wild-card game Saturday.

Coach Mike Mularkey had refused to rule out the veteran running back until Thursday.

Murray hurt his right knee late in a loss Dec. 24 to the Rams and has not practiced since.

Mularkey says starting left guard Quinton Spain is questionable for the Titans (9-7) against the Chiefs (10-6) because of his back.

BILLS: Running back LeSean McCoy says he’s making progress with his right ankle injury but his status is uncertain for Sunday’s AFC wild-card game against the Jaguars.

He has yet to practice this week, but did participate in stretches Thursday before leaving the field with a trainer.

“I’m definitely happy with how things are working out so far, but there is a lot more room for improvement,” McCoy said. “I just want to be able to cut well enough where I don’t have a lot of pain when I’m cutting.”

JAGUARS: Running back Leonard Fournette bought seven offensive linemen — five starters and two backups — Rolex watches.

“I couldn’t do it myself,” Fournette said. “I can’t block 11 guys on my own. That’s the O-line and wide receivers, too. They played a big part of contributing to me getting 1,000 yards.” ... Owner Shad Khan felt the organization “lacked football IQ” in previous years. So Khan hired two-time Super Bowl-winning coach Tom Coughlin to handle all football-related decisions.

With Coughlin calling the shots, the Jaguars (10-6) made the postseason for the first time since 2007 and will host a playoff game for the first time since January 2000.

“It’s a structure that’s been unsuccessful in the past, but for me, what I felt we lacked was football IQ ,” Khan said. “You want somebody who really it’s not just a job, it’s a passion, emotion and a drive. Nobody really personifies that better than Tom Coughlin.”

STEELERS: The father of Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier says his son has made significant progress since suffering a spinal injury in Cincinnati last month.

The extent of his injury has not been disclosed, though Vernon Shazier said Ryan has some feeling in his legs. When asked if he believes his son will play football again, he said yes.

SEAHAWKS: Wide receiver Doug Baldwin was added to the Pro Bowl roster to replace injured Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
