Snow postpones Studesville interview

- — Paul Schwartz

The Giants’ coaching search could not overcome Winter Storm Grayson’s bombogenesis effect Thursday, as the interview set up for Eric Studesville was postponed and rescheduled for early next week.

Studesville’s travel plans were short-circuited by the snow storm. He was the Broncos’ assistant head coach and running backs coach before he was fired last week following the season. Studesville has Giants ties, as he was the running backs coach for Jim Fassel from 2001-03.

The interview process kicked off Wednesday, when Steve Spagnuolo met with co-owner John Mara, newly hired general manager Dave Gettleman and holdover assistant general manager Kevin Abrams. Co-owner Steve Tisch will meet with Spagnuolo and the other candidates later in the process.

On Friday — weather permitting — the Giants’ contingent heads to Foxborough, Mass., to interview two Patriots coordinators, Josh McDaniels (offense) and Matt Patricia (defense). The Bears and Colts also set up interviews with McDaniels, and the Lions and Cardinals want to meet with Patricia.

Saturday, it is a meeting with Pat Shurmur, the Vikings’ offensive coordinator. The Giants sent a request in to the Eagles to speak with their defensive coordinator, Jim Schwartz, and will meet with him over the weekend in Philadelphia. An interview with Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks will take place early next week.
