The Post’s 2018 Top 10

1. Alabama: If Nick Saban is back, the nation’s best defense will be, too, making the Crimson Tide the favorite for a sixth national title in 10 years.

2. Clemson: The only other team to make the past three playoffs, QB Kelly Bryant (below) is bound to get better in his second season as a starter. If top-rated recruit Trevor Lawrence beats Bryant out for the starting job, the ceiling may be even higher.

3. Georgia: It took two seasons for Kirby Smart to bring the Bulldogs closer to a title than they had been in 35 years. Next year, he adds the top-rated recruiting class in the country.

4. Ohio State: The ultramotivated Big Ten champs remain as talented as any team, with the best coach (Urban Meyer) this side of Saban. 5. Wisconsin: Growth of sophomore QB Alex Hornibook and freshman RB Jonathan Taylor may finally help the offense catch up with their elite defense. 6. Oklahoma: Baker Mayfield can’t be replaced, but offensive guru Lincoln Riley will keep piling up points. 7. Penn State: The Nittany Lions lost two games this season, by a total of four points. 8. Miami: In his third season, Mark Richt should only become more popular. The same can’t be said for the turnover chain. 9. Washington: Led by senior QB Jake Browning, and a dominant offensive line, the Huskies could reach the playoff for the second time in three years. 10. Michigan State: The 10-win Spartans will return as many as 21 starters, including QB Brian Lewerke, and RB LJ Scott.
