Tim hoping for reunion with ex-Wolverine

- By GREG JOYCE

The Knicks are working on a deal to add point guard Trey Burke to their roster, The Post reported Monday, but a day later everything was status quo, according to Jeff Hornacek.

“[Team president] Steve [Mills] and [general manager] Scott [Perry], they handle the roster and I haven’t talked about that,” the coach said after practice Tuesday. “Those guys make those decisions and as far as I know, this is our team.”

Burke is averaging 26.6 points, 5.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game with the G-League Westchester Knicks, but is it possible to fit another point guard on the NBA roster?

“I don’t think there’s a roster spot,” Hornacek said with a laugh. “We have 15 guys now. That’s on [Mills and Perry]. But the team we have now are the guys I’m focused on.”

The Knicks are expected to waive point guard Ramon Sessions if they can’t open a roster spot via trade.

Hornacek said he “occasionally” sees clips from the G-League, and Burke is “playing really well down there,” but another Knick may have better insight into the 2013 lottery pick by the Jazz.

Tim Hardaway Jr. played with Burke at Michigan and would welcome him as a teammate again.

“It’ll be great if he does get called up,” Hardaway said. “We play off one another very, very well. I would definitely be happy for him. It’d be like the old times, him bringing the ball up the court, me running the wing and just doing our thing. It won’t take that long for us to mesh, so that’s a positive.”

Wednesday will mark the third meeting this season between the Knicks and Bulls, with Chicago winning the first two by a combined seven points.

“We’re 0-2 against them, and both games we felt we should have won,” guard Courtney Lee said. “For whatever reason, we didn’t come up with the win on the road, so it’s time for us to start putting this together and figuring it out.”

Hornacek is looking for a tough effort from his team back at home after going 1-2 on the recent road trip.

“We said from Day 1, we want to try to be that team that lays it out there every night,” Hornacek said. “For 82 games, is that realistic? As coaches, we want it to be, but they’re going to have nights they’re not that way. But we want it more often than not.”

Michael Beasley was limited in Tuesday’s practice with some contact and is listed as questionable for Wednesday’s game.
