‘Killer’ eyed in nine slays

- By STEPHANIE PAGONES

Police in Arizona arrested a man for allegedly shooting his mother and stepfather to death — and now believe he might be a serial killer who has murdered seven other people.

Cleophus Cooksey Jr. was arrested on Dec. 17 for allegedly shooting and killing his parents inside their Phoenix home.

A month later, cops linked Cooksey (inset) to seven murders that were committed at the end of 2017 in the metro Phoenix area, AZ Central reported.

His first killings occurred on Nov. 27, when he shot and killed Andrew Remillard, 27, and 21-year-old Parker Smith in what appeared to be a random attack, cops say.

He allegedly killed five more people in December, including 25-year-old Jesus Bonifacio Real, the brother of his ex-girlfriend.

Police say Cooksey also killed strangers or people he met online.

Authorities found Kristopher Cameron, 21, shot and bloodied, kneeling in a grassy field on Dec. 15. He died a day later.

Maria Villanueva, 43, got in a car with Cooksey after the strangers met in her apartment complex on Dec. 16. He allegedly sexually assaulted her before killing her and dumping her body.

Cooksey’s alleged spree ended when cops discovered the bodies of his mother, Rene Cooksey, 56, and her husband, Edward Nunn, 54.
