2 top Daily News editors suspended
Two top editors at the New York Daily News have been suspended pending investigations into past sexual misconduct, The Post has learned.
Rob Moore, managing editor/news — the second highest-ranking editor at the paper — was suspended on Friday, sources said.
Moore was accused in a December complaint filed by at least four former female Daily News employees of bullying and sexual misconduct, sources said.
NPR last week was the first to report on the complaint, which was filed with the paper’s human-resources department.
The second editor, Alexander “Doc” Jones, the Sunday editor for the past 12 years and a veteran of 24 years at the tabloid, was escorted out of the building on Thursday, sources said.
Tronc, the Chicago-based owner, is investigating Jones for alleged sexual misconduct, sources said.
Jones was suspended on Thursday, sources said.
Tronc declined comment on any issue related to Jones or Moore and wouldn’t comment on the existence of any probe.
However, investigations into both edi- tors are focused on alleged inappropriate sexual behavior, sources said.
In one case, Jones, a married father of three, invited a female colleague out for drinks — and then forcibly tried to kiss her, the woman told The Post.
Jones was also reprimanded several years ago for hitting on young female colleagues, one source said.
Moore, who is single, complimented a young female colleague for looking “hot” while he repeatedly asked her out, she told The Post.
Neither Moore nor Jones returned calls seeking comment.
