Bx. pol Klein: I’m single. Sort of.
State Sen. Jeff Klein may be unattached — except, y’know, for his girlfriend of 10 years.
The rogue Bronx Democrat insisted in an interview that he’s a single man before acknowledging that, yes, technically, he has been in a relationship with Staten Island Sen. Diane Savino for a decade.
“I like restaurants. I’m single. I don’t cook,” he told City and State magazine, before chowing down on chicken parm at a local pizzeria.
When corrected by his communications director, Klein conceded, “Diane’s my girlfriend, but we’re not married,” before adding: “Yeah, don’t write that. Diane will be pissed.”
The couple — once labeled the “Brangelina of New York state politics” by The New York Times — have been in a interborough romance since 2008.
Klein, who leads the GOP-caucusing Independent Democratic Conference, hasn’t let himself go, however — he visits a tanning salon once a week and pays in the “high hundreds” for his haircuts, according to the profile.
Klein’s former policy analyst last month accused him of forcibly kissing her late one night in ann Albany bar.
He denies the allegations, and Savino, also an IDC member, does, too.
“This incident neverr occurred,” she told City and State.
Klein declined to com-comment. Savino did not re-return calls. Ruth Brown n and Kirstan Conley
