Weird BUT true

Did you ever wonder what’s Down Under? Don’t ask this professor.

The geographically challenged adjunct, who taught online courses at Southern New Hampshire University, flunked a student who had asserted that Australia is a country.

Her instructor insisted it’s a continent. Actually, it’s both. The school fired the prof and, presumably to make amends, wished Australian athletes good luck in the Olympics.

Talk about cold cash. A Kansas couple who didn’t have time to immediately drive to Topeka to claim a $100,000 lottery prize hid their winning ticket in their freezer for a month.

“It’s kind of scary having a big winning ticket like that lying around,’’ said Tim Hiatt. He chose the freezer because he thought that was the last place an intruder would look.

He and his wife, Karen, kept the winner on ice until they could make the trip.

He needs a dog license — and a driver’s license.

Rambo the Golden Retriever became an overnight star on social media when he was filmed driving a tractor on his owner’s farm in Northern Ireland.

The 6-year-old canine, who has fathered four pups, has helped mow lawns, plow fields and trim hedges.

Rambo’s owner, Albert Reed, said, “We have people who come to our yard who are just lost for words when they see him do his tricks.’’

It had to happen: a robot took a selfie on Mars.

It shows the rover Curiosity sitting somewhere on the red planet’s dusty terrain.

Pictures it sent to Earth included parts of itself, and NASA put dozens together to form a selfie slide show.

Cops in Mentone, Calif., pulled over two unusual vehicles — hot-air balloons flying dangerously close to homes.

Officers contacted the pilots and ordered them to land. It’s not clear if they got summonsed.
