Last-minute ticket change saved couple’s lives

-

A couple who were supposed to be on Sunday’s doomed Russian plane changed their tickets at the last minute because a car they planned to buy wasn’t ready on time, according to a report.

Maxim Kolomeytsev, who turned 35 on Sunday, was going to be on fatal Flight 6W703 with his 25year-old girlfriend Nadezhda so they could spend his birthday with family in the city of Orsk, the Daily Mail reported.

The apparently lucky businessman planned on gifting himself a new car from a dealership in his home city, but the showroom had called to say it would not be ready in time.

“When I found out the car was not ready, I de- layed the trip by a week,” Kolomeytsev explained.

The flight change was costly at about $170 — but worth every ruble to Kolomeytsev.

“We’ve got our lives,” he said.

The passenger plane be- longing to Russian commercial carrier Saratov Airlines crashed approximately five minutes after taking off for Orsk from Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport.

All 71 people on board were killed.
