Cardinal is PAL to police

- Cindy Adams

MONDAY’S Police Athletic League lunch, sold out weeks in advance, had to return money. Every guy with a blue suit between here and Newark lined up for the Cardinal like it was Ash Wednesday.

His Eminence: “Wish I could sell out St. Patrick’s this easily.”

Timothy Dolan, who shares NYC’s nonstop vibe: “I love what I do,” he told me. “I get enough rest, seven hours a night. But seeing me you can sure tell I don’t miss a meal. The Bible says, ‘A sound mind is a sound body.’ Obviously, I don’t practice that.”

Maybe because we share a love of animals, he added: “I must tell you about my new dog. My cook

Antoine found this rescue who’d been kicked around until we got him. His name’s Lit

tle Pickles. He jumps up on the table. I play with him. I cuddle him. Oh, I can’t tell you how much I love this dog.” After MC Mark Si

mone and chairman John Catsima

tidis introduced 300 more people, His Eminence, praising donations, joked about a rich man being told: “What good’s all your money? The problem is, it’s still in your pocket.”

Decoding the tax cuts

SURPRISE! . . . Surprise! . . . Another Donald book’s inching out. Title: “Inside Story of the Tax Cuts.” Publisher: Encounter Books. Author: Larry Kudlow. Economist researcher Larry, who’s on radio, TV and podcasts, I understand. The tax cuts I don’t. So he knows what that nobody else knows? “This book is no kick and tell.” Yeah, so it’s what? “An inside discussion that went on within a small group. It was Donald, Ivanka, Jared, my partner Steve Moore. And I was part of it. It started on the plane to the Detroit Economic Club. The Detroit Economic Club was a big speech.” So OK. So humanity will wait for this book.

Shades of crooner

VIC Damone’s world just ended. His world began when he got a low-level backstage job at Paramount’s long-ago theater. His name was Vito Farinola. A singer-to-be, he was itching to make contacts. He made those contacts, and his world opened up. Way up. To such a point that I remember Trump’s wedding to Melania. Anna Wintour behind a pole. Hillary sat alone, Billy Joel hugging wife Katie, to whom he’s no longer married. Alfonse D’Amato hugging bride Katuria, with whom there are now troubles. And between the Patakis, Katie Couric, Simon Cowell and pounds of celebrities — only Vic Damone was wearing dark glasses.

Pooch battle

TUESDAY night is Westminster’s 142nd Best in Show. Seven groups: Sporting, Hound, Working, Toy, Terrier, Non-Sporting and Herding.

Rumor, the Herding group’s showoff German Shepherd, won last year. Norwegian Elkhound Duffy won for hounds.

Chuckie, a Peke, won the toy group.

All-time major winners are the Doberman, boxer, spaniel and Airedale. Also a whippet family, which includes the greyhound, Afghan, borzoi and Saluki. This year it’s 2,721 entries repping 187 different breeds with two new types added. And my gorgeous Yorkie,

Juicy, 4 pounds., never. I’m feeling dog deprived.

THE Garden backstage: “I got me a sheepdog. He doesn’t have fleas. He has moths.” Only in New York, kids, only in New York.
