AJ, Stanton still may be ‘Odd Couple’
PORT ST. LUCIE — It’s hardly the idea of cats and dogs living together, but AJ Ramos and Giancarlo Stanton continue to discuss the sharing an apartment this season, a possibility first reported by The Post’s Ken Davidoff.
The former Marlins teammates, who remain close friends, rarely would be home simultaneously, given the generally opposite schedules.
Ramos arrived to the Mets last July in a trade with the Marlins. Stanton arrived to the Yankees in a December deal with the Marlins.
“We are still looking at places and we might live together,” Ramos said Monday. “Definitely for the Subway Series I am going to be setting some traps for him. I may mess up his sleep a little bit.”
While joking Stanton — who will make $25 million this season — would be responsible for the rent and groceries, Ramos said such a living arrangement wouldn’t be awkward.
“The only time it would be different would be when we are playing against each other,” Ramos said. “Other than that, it’s just Giancarlo and I’m AJ.”
Ramos was asked how he expects his friend to perform with the Yankees.
“He can get jammed and hit a ball out of there, that park is very small,” Ramos said, referring to Yankee Stadium. “He is going from Miami to where you have to square one up to get one out to [The Bronx], where you can basically burp a ball out.” The Mets traded infielder Matt Reynolds to the Nationals for cash considerations. Reynolds was designated for assignment last week when Todd Frazier was added to the 40-man roster.
