Tweetstorming Don fumes: FBI PUT RUSSIA OVER FLA. TIP

- By MARK MOORE

President Trump unleashed fire and fury on the Russia investigation in a blistering string of tweets over the weekend in which he pounded the FBI for missing a tip in the Florida school shooting because it was too focused on him and concluded, “They are laughing their asses off in Moscow.”

In a tweetstorm that began late Saturday and carried into Sunday morning, the president railed about the indictment of 13 Russians for carrying out a plot to sabotage the 2016 election.

The president, spending the three-day weekend at his private resort in West Palm Beach, Fla., used the indictments to defend himself and campaign associates against collusion claims.

“If it was the GOAL of Russia to create discord, disruption and chaos within the U.S. then . . . they have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams,” Trump wrote. “They are laughing their asses off in Moscow. Get smart America!”

Holed up at Mar-a-Lago, about 40 miles north of Parkland, Fla., where 17 people were gunned down last Wednesday by a former student with an AR-15, Trump suggested the carnage could have been avoided if the FBI wasn’t so distracted.

“They are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign - there is no collusion,” he wrote on Twitter late Saturday, the start of a ninehour period of tweets.

The FBI admitted on Friday that “protocols were not followed” and that it did not pass a tip about Florida gunman Nikolas Cruz on to its Miami field office.

Trump also mocked and then praised Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, which is investigating Russian involvement in the election.

Trump called him “Liddle Adam Schiff, the leakin’ monster of no control” — and then thanked him for saying former President Barack Obama didn’t do enough to stop Russian interference when it first surfaced in 2014.

On CNN’s “State of the Union,” Schiff acknowledged Obama should have reacted more forcefully, but criticized Trump for refusing to impose sanctions approved by Congress against Russia.

“They can’t point the finger back when they’re sitting on sanctions that the Congress has said need to be imposed,” Schiff said.

Sen. Bernie Sanders knocked Trump for failing to act to protect future elections.

“This is a huge deal and that we don’t have a president speaking out on this issue is a horror show,” he said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
