CURLY Q FOR US CHAMPS

Um, wrong medals?!

- By DAVID K. LI

The Olympics tested their mettle but not their medals.

TThe US men’s curling team proved Saturday they were worthy of Olympic gold — and of having First Daughter Ivanka Trump in their cheering section — but when it came time to slip the prizes around their necks, officials awarded them the wrong medals.

The squad proudly took to the podium after becoming the first US men’s squad to capture curling gold in history with a thrilling win over heavily favored Sweden.

John Shuster, John Landsteiner, Matt Hamilton, Tyler George and Joe Polo (above) were all beaming.

But in a comical footnote to their brush with Olympic glory, four of the five realized they were wearing medals meant for winners of the women’s curling competition, Sweden.

Only the alternate, Polo, had the right men’s medal.

The Olympic faux pas was quickly resolved and Team USA went to bed Saturday night with the right medals.

“It wasn’t a big deal at all, I promise,” an overjoyed Shuster said.

Any brief embarrassment brought by the snafu paled in comparison to the thrill of victory over the Swedes and the air of glamour brought to Gangneung Curling Centre by Ivanka, who is leading the US delegation amid the final weekend of competition.

President Trump’s eldest daughter, 36, was seated above the ice rink, in between Shauna Rohbock and Valerie Fleming — who won silver medals in 2006 as the American two-woman bobsled team.

Just after the victory, Ivanka tweeted: “#Miracurl on ice! Red, White and Blue bringing home the gold!”

The Olympics conclude Sunday with closing ceremonies beginning at 6 a.m. New York time, and slated to last about 2¹/2 hours.

NBC will air the event on tape at 8 p.m.
