Creighton knocks off No. 3 Villanova in OT

Marcus Foster scored 28 points, Davion Mintz gave Creighton the lead for good early in overtime, and the Bluejays defeated the highest-ranked opponent in program history with an 89-83 upset of No. 3 Villanova on Saturday in Omaha, Neb.

Creighton (20-9, 9-7 Big East), playing without injured starting forward Ronnie Harrell Jr., won for the first time in nine games against Villanova since 2014.

Villanova (25-4, 12-4) squandered an eight-point lead with 4½ minutes left.

Virginia 66, Pittsburgh 37

In Pittsburgh, No. 1 Virginia allowed just seven points in the first half and secured the regular-season Atlantic Coast Conference title outright with a win over Pittsburgh.

The game was never competitiv­e, as Virginia (26-2, 15-1) started on an 8-0 run and Pitt (8-22, 0-17) didn’t make a field goal until Jared Wilson-Frame hit a 3-pointer at the midway point of the first half.

Duke 60, Syracuse 44

In Durham, N.C., Marvin Bagley III had 19 points in his return from a sprained knee, and No. 5 Duke beat Syracuse for its fifth straight win.

Wendell Carter Jr. added 16 points for the Blue Devils (24-5, 12-4), who forced 17 turnovers. The Orange (18-11, 7-9) matched their season-low scoring total, set Feb. 3 in a loss to No. 1 Virginia.

Kansas 74, Texas Tech 72

In Lubbock, Texas, Devonte Graham scored 26 points and No. 8 Kansas (23-6, 12-4) set an NCAA record with its 14th straight regularsea­son conference championsh­ip, clinching at least a tie for the Big 12 title with a victory against sixthranke­d Texas Tech (22-7, 10-6).

La Salle 73, Fordham 60

B.J. Johnson scored 23 points, leading La Salle past Fordham in The Bronx.

Will Tavares had 19 points for Fordham (9-19, 4-13), who have lost four straight and fell by 30 earlier at La Salle (12-18, 6-10).

Fairfield 69, Monmouth 66

In Bridgeport, Conn., Tyler Nelson scored 23 points, Jonathan Kasibabu added 20, including a goahead layup with 38 seconds left, and Fairfield (14-15, 9-9) rallied to beat Monmouth (11-19, 7-11).

Hofstra 91, Towson 86

In Hempstead, Justin Wright-Foreman scored 27 points and Hofstra (19-11, 12-6) pulled away in the final four minutes to beat Towson (18-13, 8-10).

Vermont 69, Stony Brook 60

In Stony Brook, Trae Bell-Haynes had 19 points, including six in the final four minutes, and six assists and Payton Henson added 17 points and nine rebounds to help Vermont (24-6, 14-1) beat Stony Brook (12-18, 7-9). Akwasi Yeboah led Stony Brook with 21 points.

Mt. St. Mary’s 73, Wagner 62

In Emmitsburg, Md., Junior Rob- inson scored 22 points, Chris Wray blocked a career-best six shots and Mount Saint Mary’s (18-13, 12-6) broke away in the second half to defeat Northeast Conference champion Wagner (21-8, 14-4).

LIU Brooklyn 88, Sacred Heart 77

Joel Hernandez scored 26 points for his 18th game this season with 20-plus, Raiquan Clark added 20 points and LIU beat visiting Sacred Heart (10-21, 5-13). Jashaun Agosto chipped in 17 points for LIU (15-16, 10-8).

CCSU 78, St. Francis (BK) 75

In New Britain, Conn., Joe Hugley scored 20 points and made a key 3pointer in overtime to help Central Connecticu­t (14-17, 7-11) beat St. Francis (13-17, 10-8). Rasheem Dunn scored 20 points to lead St. Francis.

FDU 87, Bryant 83

In Teaneck, N.J., Jahlil Jenkins scored a career-high 22 points with 9-for-12 shooting, Noah Morgan added 19 points and Fairleigh Dickinson (12-17, 9-9) hung on against Bryant (3-28, 2-16).
