Weird true

A New Zealand construction company came up with a novel way to convince the robbers who stole their tools to return them — it posted an “offer’’ to hire them.

“We thought you might like to come and work for us? Maybe make an honest living instead of thieving off us?” the Facebook post reads, noting the culprits seem to know how to use power tools, a qualification they’d need to get the job.

It includes a phone number, which the crooks were not dumb enough to call.

It was a great lesson in fake news.

Students at a Vicksburg, Miss., high school got an offer they couldn’t refuse — emails asking them to vote for a bond measure to renovate schools. It promised students who vote will be “exempt from all final exams!”

The principal called it an “errant announcement.’’

Americans think you can find anything in a mall — even jurors.

When court officials in Winston-Salem, NC, accidentally failed to send out jury duty notices, they made a radio plea for people willing to serve.

When that didn’t work, the judge sent deputies to a local mall to find volunteers.

They scored a big zero. He’s getting their goat. Cops in Harden County, Ky., have been searching for a stray goat named Houdini by local residents because it always manages to escape before officers show up to capture it.

Local resident Tom Pitt created a Facebook page for the wayward goat, writing, “He does what he wants and we’re jealous . . He’s our hero.’’

If you live in the Irish town of Quilty and are hungry, you can get bread delivered by airmail.

The town was buried by a snowstorm, so Patrick Mungovan is using his drone to deliver loaves to any of his neighbors who live within a three-mile radius of his home.
