Rolle: Despite antics, Giants gotta pay OBJ

- By PAUL SCHWARTZ

So, how much is Odell Beckham Jr. worth?

Antrel Rolle does not care.

“Whatever he’s asking, I’ll give him $10 million more,’’ Rolle told The Post on Monday.

The retired safety spent one year (2014) as a teammate of Beckham’s with the Giants, enough of a sample size for Rolle to know what the superstar receiver is like off the field, behind closed doors.

“I would love to have this guy on my team 100 out of 100 times because I know what he’s gonna give me between those white lines,’’ Rolle said. “All those other things, all those extra antics, can you do without some of them? Yes, but you got to understand with Odell, he’s a very passionate guy, he wants to win and he wears his emotions on his sleeve. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have to go through the same growth and maturity as everyone else. He does. And he understands that. But he’s also been in a spotlight that not many of us have ever been in or will ever be in. That’s a lot to ask of a 23-, 24-yearold man to deal with.’’

The Giants picked up the fifth-year option on Beckham, guaranteeing him $8.4 million for the 2018 season. Beckham wants to cash in with a long-term deal and in the past said he thinks of not only becoming the highest-paid receiver in the NFL, but also the highestpaid player. The Giants will not make Beckham the highest-paid player in NFL history but they know they likely will have to surpass the $17 million annual salary the Steelers gave Antonio Brown.

Beckham played in only four games in 2017 and is coming off surgery to repair a fractured left ankle. In 47 games with the Giants, he has 313 receptions for 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns and has generated highlights and controversies to last a lifetime.
