Overlooking Anti-Semitism: The Left’s Blind Eye to Hate

-

Louis Farrakhan is indeed a loathsome character. His calling Judaism “a gutter religion” and making other evil, bombastic statements are unfortunately nothing new (“Dems’ Farrakhan Love,” Rich Lowry, PostOpinion, March 6).

Many others have spewed this kind of hatred. Adolf Hitler convinced an entire nation through his sick rants that the Jews had to be done away with.

Hitler is gone after causing horrible destruction, and the Jews are still here.

Farrakhan eventually will disappear, but someone else with the same hatred toward Jews will take his place. Hindy Kierman East Brunswick, NJ

Why is it acceptable for Democrats to embrace an openly malevolent anti-Semite like Farrakhan?

How can Rep. Keith Ellison, a one-time supporter of Farrakhan, become the Democratic National Committee deputy chairman?

As a proud Jew, it offends me no end to be called “Satanic” and to be warned by the Nation of Islam leader that my time is up and my world is through.

There is no place in this remarkable country of ours for such slander and hatred against the Jews.

The Democrats who are embracing Farrakhan and Rep. Ellison must understand that they are leading America down a dark path. We pray they see the light. Helen Freedman Manhattan

Don’t underestimate the impact of the foundational anti-Semitism of Tamika Mallory, Carmen Perez and Linda Sarsour. They are the key organizers of the Women’s March, to which liberals pay blind obedience.

Their embrace of Farrakhan’s anti-Semitic speeches is not at odds with many mainstream Democratic politics today. Richard Sherman Margate, Fla.

Replace the word “Jew” with “Muslim,” “AfricanAmerican” or “Hispanic” in Farrakhan’s racist ravings and try to imagine the response.

There would be nonstop attacks from every corner of society, along with demands to censor and isolate the minister and his supporters.

Rep. Ellison, Mallory, Sarsour and Farrakhan himself maintain strong connections with the Democratic Party.

Silence in the face of mindless bigotry signifies acceptance, and acceptance inevitably leads to more bigotry. The silence in response to Farrakhan is deafening. Steve Heitner Port Jefferson Station
