A man went on a rampage that included stealing at least three cars and fatally mowing down a pedestrian in the city on Monday before heading to Long Island, where he was killed after threatening a police officer with a bat, sources said.

Michael Ward, 44, from Maryland, attacked a gasstation attendant and stole a car in Bordentown, NJ, on Saturday, then drove to The Bronx, where he assaulted a 77-year-old man, law-enforcement sources said.

He then stole a white Acura early Monday and drove to Brooklyn, where he fatally struck a 50-yearold man at 3:45 a.m.

After fleeing the scene, Ward ended up on the Lower East Side, where he carjacked a Honda Odyssey from a woman at 4:30 a.m.

Just 11 minutes later, he carjacked another person driving a black Acura on Harrison Street.

Then, while driving uptown, Ward sideswiped a pedestrian, sources said.

He eventually ended up in Garden City, LI, where he attacked two men with a bat.

A rookie cop attempted to subdue Ward with a stun gun but, unable to do so, fired two shots, striking him once in the chest and killing him at around 10:30 a.m., the sources said.
