Scientology TV network is ready for prime time
Don’t expect to see famous Scientologists Tom Cruise and John Travolta on Scientology TV, which debuted Monday night.
The network, which streams on Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV and Google Chromecast and airs on DirecTV, launched with an intro from David Miscavige, the leader of the Church of Scientology.
Miscavige told viewers that the church would be opening its notoriously secretive doors via documentary-style and infomercial-like programing — including behind-the-scenes looks into church management, publications and how the church makes use of technology.
“Every six seconds someone searches, ‘What is Scientology?,’ ” Miscavige said while introducing the network. “We are going to be showing you all of it.”
As part if its upcoming programming, the network played sizzle reels of a variety of new shows including, “Meet a Scientologist,” in which viewers are introduced to Scientologists around the world, and mini-documentaries such as “Voices of Humanity,” “The Story of Human Rights,” “The Truth About Drugs” and an original series on Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard’s life.
