Strategist: A Lost Generation of Workers Recovers

-

Something “wonderful is happening,” says Scott Jennings at CNN: “Americans are reentering the labor force, growing the size of the labor market at rates not seen for over 15 years.” Labor participation in the US, he notes, “has been on a steady decline for several decades.” Between 2000 and 2017, the rate of those working or actively seeking a job fell “by almost five points, an alarming reduction.” Because when “people of prime working age check out of the economy, they check out of American life” and “go off the grid as it related to the things that generally make for a healthy society.” Finally “recovering this generation of lost workers . . . would be one of the best possible outcomes of the Trump presidency.”
