Sold for less

I N the last week, three townhouses with notable names attached to them have officially transferred to new owners — and all three sold well below their original asking prices. In May of last year, Jonathan Safran Foer (inset) listed his stunningly decorated home (above) at 374 Pacific St. in Boerum Hill for $10.5 million. The “Everything is Illuminated” author had purchased the place in 2014 for $5.4 million. Despite an impeccable renovation, the eight-bedroom, 8,000-squarefoot home ultimately sold last week for $7.9 million — almost 25 percent off. The buyer is broker and “Million Dollar Listing New York” star Ryan Serhant, according to the Real Deal.

Then there’s Keith McNally, owner of beloved Soho eatery Balthazar and Financial District newcomer Augustine. His West Village townhouse just sold for more than 25 percent off. After attempting to rent the five-bedroom spread at 105 W. 11th St. on and off since 2012, he listed it in 2016 for $13.95 million; it sold this week for $10.27 million.

Lastly, take the Upper East Side’s Vanderbilt Mansion, owned by Johnson & Johnson heir Libet Johnson. She purchased it for $48 million in 2011 and enlisted architect Peter Marino to renovate the 12,000-square-foot home. Johnson then put it back on the market, asking $55 million, in 2016. The Real Deal reports that Singaporean internet mogul Tianqiao Chen bought the home for $39 million — a discount of almost 30 percent.
