DeB away as Andy homes in

- Rich Calder

With the city’s public-housing system in crisis, Mayor de Blasio rode the pine on Thursday — as he headed down to Florida for a baseball spring-training getaway.

Hizzoner and his wife, Chirlane McCray, were flying out Thursday evening to the Sunshine State, where de Blasio’s faves, the Boston Red Sox, are scheduled to play the Yankees in Tampa Friday.

Meanwhile, Gov. Cuomo (above, Thursday) played political hardball at The Bronx’s Forest Houses, where he positioned himself as the real protector of low-income public-housing tenants.

During a Thursday visit, Cuomo announced that he won’t approve a new state budget without repair funds to compensate for what he derided as the inefficiencies and waste of the city Housing Authority.

“Here are the roaches,” the governor said as he lifted a loose tile behind a stove in the home of Carmen Silva. “The conditions we see once again are just disgusting. And they are intolerable.”

It was Cuomo’s third trip to a housing project in less than two weeks. The governor said he’d insist in the budget that outside contractors do the repair work because of the city housing agency’s “incompetent bureaucracy.”

“We have to have a real solution as part of this budget — to bring in a contractor who can do the work. And if this budget does not have a solution for the NYCHA tenants, I won’t sign the budget,” Cuomo said after touring 85year-old Silva’s apartment.

De Blasio Florida junket will mark the third straight spring he has left the city to take in Grapefruit League games. It’s unclear which games de Blasio will attend. The mayor plans to return Sunday night.
